Frequently Asked Questions

Why in the Weekly League Summary are the Standings not in order? How do the tiebreakers work come Playoff time?

If using the Head to Head Record as part of your Tie-breaking Criteria be aware that this only works when two teams are tied. If there are more than two teams tied with the same record then the program will skip this and go to your next Tiebreaker.

My Playoff Schedule is not right, how do i change it?

in the program click on the League Manager and go to Modify Schedules. Then click on Edit Playoff Schedule. You will get a message that if you manually edit the schedule that the program will not automatically determine the match-ups but that is ok - click yes. Then you can manually edit the Playoff Schedule to your liking. Once changed click OK and these match-ups will reflect next time you view the Weekly League Summary.

Why do I get an illegal operation error when printing or publishing the Weekly League Summary when trying to reflect the Playoff Schedule?

In the League Manager/Modify Schedules click on Playoff Options and make sure that you have the Number of Weeks in your Regular Season correct and that you have the correct # of teams in round 1 of the Playoffs. Include the total # of teams that make the playoffs not just round 1. Also, check that the Playoff Starting and Ending Weeks is correct.

How does one run the NFL Playoffs using the Fantasy Sports Program?

In the program you will need to start in Week 1. Week 1 of the NFL Playoffs works with Week 1 of our program. To get into week 1 you can either:
- click on Maintenance and Reset Season of your current league or
- click on File and Open a New League and Import Previous Years Data (Full League). Then change the folder to FantasySports/FantasyFootball2007 and select your previous league and click Ok.
- Then select what you want to import from your previous league. (This way you do not have to set up franchises or point assignments again).
- Then just go into Draft Night and Draft for the Playoffs and then End Draft Night. That's it you are now ready for Week 1 of the Playoffs.

Why is it that when I email the web site address my league members get a blank email?

We apologize, but that is a bug in the software. The easiest way to get around this is to copy the web site address (url) and then paste it into the Newsletter in the Report Manager and send it that way.
To do this just click on Web and What is My Web Site Address? Then with the url highlighted right click the mouse on the link and choose copy. Then go into the Report Manager and under the Weekly Reports go to the Newsletter and click the radial button for Edit Newsletter (on left hand side) and then right click on the mouse inside the newsletter and choose paste. Then send via email.

I'm getting an invalid id/password when i try and import stats. What is my username (id) and password, and how can i change it in the program?

You can easily retrieve your username and password by using the LOOKUP feature on our home page or by Clicking Here
to change your username and password in the program, click on Preferences on the Menu Bar and then Change Username / Password.
* if this still does not work you may download stats by clicking here to manually download the stat file. Follow the instructions on the left hand side of the football stats page. (after 9/11 you will need a valid id/password to download stats).

I'm using Windows XP and can not get the Registering to Web or Web Publishing to work what do i need to do?

First thing you need to do if you are running Windows XP or have Norton Anti-Virus is to disable the firewall protection.
To do this in Windows XP: click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections. Then double-click the Dial-Up, LAN or High-Speed Internet Connection that you are using and select Properties. In Properties click on the Advanced tab and take the check mark out of the box to Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the internet and click OK.
Once that is done try and Web Publish.

When I send out email through the program is it not being received by all of my league members?

Unfortunately, this season some ISP's (small isp's ) are blocking mail from fantasysports.com. The best solution is to either:

1. Contact your Internet Service Provider (isp) and tell them to unblock mail.fantasysports.com (ip address 209.8.29.164). There is no reason it should be blocked.

2- create a list of your league members using your email program (create list) and then through the football program in the report manager use the print to file option to print a report file to a folder on your hard drive. Then go through your email program and attach the report file(s) and send it to the list (ff2007) you created. This may sound like a lot to do but you only need to create the list once and printing report files to file (folder) and the attaching is really quite simple, else:

3- have those members who are not receiving email create a temporary email address from an ISP that is not blocking mail from FantasySports.com (msn, yahoo, aol, hotmail, gmail, are a few) and just use that email address for the football season.

How do i set up Special Teams & Defensive Touchdowns?

If you award a certain amount of points no matter what the distance of the touchdown is:
Go to Set Up Point Assignments/Modify. Category: Special Teams. Play Type: Kick Return TD (Yards). Scoring Method: Range. Award - whatever points you award for the touchdown - for Kick Return Yards between 0 and 110 and then under Positions check Defense/Special Teams and Add. This way you get whatever points you are awarding no matter what the distance of the touchdown.

Do this for all Special Teams & Defensive touchdowns with (Yards) in parenthesis. Play Types include for Special Teams:: Punt Return TD (Yards) & Blocked Kick Return (Yards). For Defense: Interception Return TD (Yards) & Fumble Return (Yards).

How do i set up Field Goals if i give different points for longer Field goals?

Make sure to use the Range Scoring Method and the Play Type Field Goal (Yards). For example, say you award 3 points for Field Goals 0 -19, 4 points 20- 29, 5 points 30-39, 6 points 40-49, and 7 points for 50 plus.

To do this you want to use Category: Kicking, Play Type: Field Goal (Yards), Scoring Method: Range. Then for the first one award 3 points for Field Goal Yards between 0 and 19 and select position Kicker and Add. Then keep the same setup and award 4 points for Field Goal Yards between 20 and 29 and select position Kicker and Add. Do the same for 30-39, 40-49, and 50-99.

How can i set up my league so that members of my league can select their lineups Online?

In your Fantasy Football Program click on Web (on the Menu Bar) and go to Owner Zone:
- select Register franchises and check mark the Franchises and then Register.
- then go back to the Web menu, Owner Zone, and Post Current Week Lineups. This will post the teams current roster and activate the Online Franchise Manager, where your league members will have links for each of their teams and when clicking on their teams link will allow them to access their rosters and make changes as needed (start or bench players). After making their changes they need to click on the Change Lineup button at the bottom of the page.
* When Transactions are made and an owners roster changes remember to Post Current Week Lineups so that their rosters are up to date. You should have a time after transactions are made that you do this weekly but remember whenever you Post Current Week Lineups you are over writting the old lineups.

How does the Commissioner download the lineups once selected Online?

In your Fantasy Football Program click on Web (on the Menu Bar) and go to Owner Zone then Download Current Week Lineups.
Once downloaded you will be prompted if you'd like the program to put in the starting lineup changes for you automatically. Click Yes if you want the program to do this or No if you'd like to enter the lineups yourself. Then you will be prompted to print a report showing you league members lineups with *transaction date and time. Click Yes or No.
*Unfortunately, there is no lockout feature when game time starts but there is a time date stamp as to when the lineups were entered. You will have to manually enforce a cut off time when your league members should have their weekly lineups entered on the website.

Give me a brief description of the download process for the Commissioner's software.

-Go to our fantasysports.com website and click on the link for
 FREE 2007 Commissioner Software

-Select the download link:
2007 fantasysports.com Fantasy Football for Windows

-Select SAVE TO DISK (or SAVE)

-Open Windows Explorer and run a search for the file you just downloaded. The name of the football commissioner file is FB07inst.exe.

-Once you've found the file, double click on it and unzip it.

-The install program will be launched automatically.

* If you download the fb07inst.exe file to your desktop remember to delete it after installing the program because if you accidently run it again after entering your league information everything will be wiped out and you will need to start from scratch.
(Read below on how to get in to the program correctly so that you do not lose your data)

How do I access the Football program after installing it?

You can gain access to your commissioner program by clicking on Start on your taskbar, selecting Programs, then Fantasy Sports, then Fantasy Football 2007, and finally fantasysports.com Fantasy Football. * after installing the fb07inst.exe file delete it else if you reinstall it again it will overwrite any information that you have entered into your program. Once the program has been installed you no longer need to run fb07inst.exe.

Why when i try installing the software, after unzipping the 15 files successfully, nothing happens or i get a 16 bit Windows Subsystem error?

There is either a file missing or corrupted on your system. Please download this file WinXPFix.EXE and then unzip the file. After 3 files unzip successfully, reboot your computer and run the football install file (fb07inst.exe) again.

Do I have to download the 2007 software or can I just reuse the 2006 fantasysports.com game and the get the 2007 stats?

You need to download the 2007 software because the 2007 stats are only compatible with the 2007 software. The good news is that the software is free and you can import league data from your 2006 fantasysports.com game. Keep reading the FAQ to find out how to transfer the information.

Can I transfer information from the 2006 Fantasysports.com Program into this years program?

Yes you can. Our 2007 football program allows you to import league data, point assignments, and schedules from the 2006 program or from a backup of the 2006 program.
How? In the Fantasy Football 2007 software when you enter the program for the first time you will be prompted to import last years (2006) information. If you have your league from last year, or a backup file, you may do this by following the wizard which will guide you step by step. Full league, means if you still have your league from last year on your computer you can use this option to restore your league information. If you do not have your full league installed but have a backup file you can choose to restore your information from a backup file. Then just follow the wizard.
If you want to import your data at a later date click cancel on the import wizard. Then to get it back later just click on File on the Menu Bar and Import League.

How do i access last year's web site?

To access your 2006 web site just change the url from pub.fantasysports/leagues/football/ to pub.fantasysports/leagues/foot2006/ and then add the name of your league.

For example, if your 2006 web site address was http://pub.fantasysports.com/leagues/football/FantasyFootball/ then change it to
http://pub.fantasysports.com/leagues/foot2006/FantasyFootball/

I'm going into Draft Night, but I'm unable to start my draft?

You must first create at least one franchise and assign it to a division before you can start Draft Night. You don't necessarily need to have ALL your franchises created and placed in their proper divisions, although it does make things considerably easier if you do this.

I only use the football stats. How much is it to just order the football stats? What if I don't want the other sports?

The football stats sell for $99.95, and you get the other 3 stat packages free. Essentially, you are getting the other 3 stat services for free and you can choose to use them or not to use them. It's a $300.00 value!!!

Can I enter the stats manually?

Yes, but it is much more efficient and many times faster to use the 4-IN-1 Stats Download Package. A free week of stats is also available in week 1 so you can test it out before you buy.

Do you accept money orders?

Yes, we do accept money orders, but we won't process your order until we receive the money order from you. Please write on a small letter what you're ordering, along with your name, address, city, state, zip, home phone #, and email address and mail to:

Fantasysports.com
Attn: Order Processing
P.O. Box 2698
Reston, VA 20195

When will the stat file first be available and at what time will they be available throughout the NFL season?

The stats will first be available on Monday, September 10th (for Sunday's games) and Tuesday, September 11th (for Monday night & Sunday's games) by 9 a.m. EST.

How many leagues can I run and how many teams can I have in each league?

You can run up to ten leagues with a maximum of 30 teams in each league.

How do I get in touch with Tech Support?

The first few weeks of the football season are very busy so it would be a good idea to set up your league before the season starts and try calling before September 10th. If you are unable to get through at the 1-703-391-0395 number you can email Tech Support at fantasysports.com@comcast.net
and we'll get back to you ASAP.

I'm using AOL to download the 2007 Football Software but when i hit the Download Here link on your home page all i see is the 2006 Football Download, what's up?

That's a refresh/reload AOL problem. Use the Microsoft Internet Browser with AOL and you should see the new information or click here: http://www.fantasysports.com/downloads/football/fb07inst.exe and then Save the file to Disk (your hard drive). Then follow installation instructions below.

Why do i get a quicktime film clip when i go to download the software?

Not sure but if you get this - right click on your mouse and choose Save Target As. Then you can save the file (fb07inst.exe) to your hard drive and then run that file to download and install the software.

I'm getting a Email Attempt Failed: Could not connect to the Mail Server. What can I do?

1- CHANGE OUR MAIL SERVER TO USE YOUR MAIL SERVER

To do this, In the Commissioner's Football program on the Menu Bar click on Preferences and select "Mail Server". Then in the "Enter your own SMTP Mail Server" box enter your Internet Service Providers (ISP) SMTP outgoing Mail Server (Contact your ISP if you are not sure what your SMTP is).

If using Internet Explorer, you can find your SMTP Mail Server by doing the following:
- Open Outlook Express and click on Tools on the Menu Bar
- and select Accounts then Mail tab
- then click Properties button
- then Servers tab and find Outgoing Mail (SMTP)
this is what you will enter in the  "Enter your own SMTP Mail Server:" box under Preferences/Mail Server of the Fantasy Football Program.

2 - SEND THE REPORTS TO A FOLDER AND THEN EMAIL

To do this, In the Report Manager there is an Option, radial button on the right hand side, to Print to File. Use this option to send your reports to a folder on your hard drive and then attach them to an email and send them through your email program. It sounds like a lot of work but really isn't. under Tools/ Address Book just add New Group  and copy and paste the email address's from the Franchise List Report under League information in the Report manager. Then just attach the reports and send.
